Hey, remember our color combo series? Well, it turns out it’s one of your favorite features here (mine too!) so, without further ado, I give you the color combos of Erika Johnson, otherwise known as the blogger extraordinaire behind the beautiful (and highly-addictive) blog, Radiant Republic. I highly recommend you check out Erika’s blog, as well as her guest appearances on Rue’s latest and greatest issue, Joyus and vmacandcheese, but first – let’s get into the colors!

Living near the beach, I feel a strong connection to the ocean. The tranquility of winter walks on the sand juxtaposed by crowded, jubilant summer months on the ocean evoke a feeling of magic that I like to convey in my home. The colors of the sun and ocean translate to a crisp, preppy navy contrasted by bright, exuberant orange.
I throw caution to the wind when mixing patterns and collect interesting, mismatched pieces that add to the eclecticism of a room. As a New Englander, navy stripes are often a room’s staple. To set a room apart, an unexpected punch of orange warms the palette of the room and softens the nautical tone. Even a floral arrangement can add an eye-catching pop!
The pairing of navy and orange is more than a fabulous palette for interior design. These shades will also be prominent hues in my upcoming Cape Cod wedding!

Thank you so much, Erika! I must say I wouldn’t usually decorate with orange, but this may have changed my mind! What about you, friends? Are orange and navy colors you use in your decor?

p.s. My whole living room is based off of an orange textile that I fell in love with. Orange = very, very good (and slightly different) interiors!
