EDITORIAL: Secret Garden | Chedva | September 11, 2011

One chilly morning in August, at an hour most of the world was still fast asleep, I loaded a suitcase filled with jars, trays and rugs unto a cab, praying that none of them will break or stain…

It happened about two weeks after I first met Tal and Hadar, the two energetic and talented women behind Urban Brides Magazine, the best Israeli wedding blog. I’ve written a few blog posts on wedding decor for UB and so when the time came for their very first photo shoot I was more than happy to help by prop-styling.

The mood board

In our first meeting with Udi the photographer, words like tea party, secret garden, breakfast, and wonderland flew about. You can imagine it wasn’t hard pulling together the mood board that accompanied me until the day of the photo shoot. I started collecting and borrowing items, and along the way met some amazing people:

Ilanit de Vries of Gloria Mundi imports gorgeous Scandinavian and European decor, and let me borrow the lanterns we hung from the tree, trays, jars and tea sets.

Roni from Hafatzim was gracious enough to lend textiles that added pattern and texture.

Sandra from Sandal Wood sells the most exquisitely finished handkerchiefs which I styled as napkins.

Shlomi Ilani– Israel’s most famous flower arrangement artist. It was an honor and a pleasure to work with him, and I learned so much.

Shai Shevach who baked the mini-cakes and cookies, and is as sweet as her creations.

Deanna Linder who let me borrow her very special collection of mason jars, which are surprisingly so hard to find in Israel.

And so Urban Brides‘ first editorial feature came to life, on the only rainy day in August. I’m so glad I got to take part in it, and not only because of the wonderful results. Have you missed the video and the full credit list? You can find them here. And now, I’m curious: which is your favorite photo? and what do you have planned for this week?
